Artist Spotlight: Gwyneth Leech

Gwyneth Leech is a New York City artist whose pieces have been inspired by the city she has lived in for the last 20 years. Currently, she is focused on the ever-changing skyline and architecture in the city as it goes through a continual transformation.

She’s previously been featured in a documentary as well as the New York Times and was, somewhat amusingly to her, featured on TripAdvisor as a “What To See” attraction in the Flatiron Building (see Question 13).

She was a pleasure to speak with and learn from. I’m glad she agreed to chat and I hope you can learn something too.

Artist Spotlight: Claire Coleman

I chatted with Atlanta-born, New York-based artist Claire Coleman recently.

She had a ton of insight into her unique city. I really enjoyed hearing her perspective on the business of art and how she has access to some of the greatest art collections in the world.

Specifically, she lives in the borough of Brooklyn and takes a lot of her inspiration from the often overlooked objects, architecture and activities that go on in every day life.

I hope you enjoy learning more about her.

The idea had been percolating in my mind for years by this point. Travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic had left it closer to a distant dream, no different than the planned trip to Cooperstown.

She stopped brushing her teeth and looked at me.

“What is it?” she asked plainly through a toothpaste-filled mouth with zero enthusiasm. Zero.
